Man left speechless at The Octagon Shopping Centre.
The Octagon Shopping Centre announced last week the winner of their most recent competition, giving one lucky winner a chance to win free parking for a year. The competition that ran for a couple of months received hundreds of entries online and in the centre, all with a chance to park free of charge in their award winning 'Park Mark' carpark for 12 months.
The Park Mark award that was issued to the centre by the police shows that the carpark reached the standards of the Safer Parking Scheme. The scheme is designed to reduce crime and the fear of crime in car parks up and down the country.
Shopper John Copeman was left 'lost for words' after receiving the news he had won, especially as he couldn't remember ever entering. After sharing the good news with his wife Kay he'd realized it was her entry on his behalf that was the winning ticket. Kay Copeman commented, "I thought, why not enter my husband as well, we both park here and have done for years as it's so convenient when popping to the shops. When he told me he'd won I was delighted, especially as he offered to be my taxi driver a couple of times".
Cushman & Wakefield General Manager, Peter Hardingham commented, "Our Park Mark award shows the steps we take to try to make sure our shoppers feel safe when using our centre and we're delighted to give one of our shoppers a chance to use our carpark free for an entire year. Our carpark is already very convenient for shoppers with a ticketless, pay on foot operation but this feels even better when the bill is taken care of!".
